This Privacy Policy explains how Canaan One, LLC (“Canaan One,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with our website at CanaanOne.com and the technology services we provide. It reflects a simple principle from our own code of conduct: your data is yours. We don’t sell it, and we collect only what we need to serve you well.

1What this policy covers

This policy applies to information we collect through our website, our forms and interactive tools, our email and marketing communications, and the course of providing technology services to our clients. It does not apply to third-party websites, applications, or services that we may link to but do not control — those are governed by their own privacy policies.

Where we act as a service provider or processor handling data on behalf of a business client, that client’s own privacy policy and our services agreement govern how that data is handled; Section 6 explains this in more detail.

2Information we collect

Information you give us

• Contact & inquiry details — your name, email address, company, role, and the message, budget range, or project details you submit through our contact form, Project Brief Builder, or by emailing us directly.
• Newsletter sign-ups — the email address you provide to receive our monthly brief.
• Career inquiries — any information you send when applying or introducing yourself to our team.

Our on-site tools — the Project Brief Builder and Plan Finder — run entirely in your browser and do not transmit your answers to us unless you choose to email the result to us.

Information we collect automatically

• Usage & device data — standard information your browser sends, such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring pages, and the pages you view, collected through server logs and analytics.
• Cookies & similar technologies — small files that help the site function and help us understand aggregate usage. See Section 4.

We do not collect biometric data, precise geolocation, or special categories of sensitive personal data through this website.

3How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

• Respond to your inquiries and provide the consultations, proposals, and services you request;
• Deliver, maintain, and support the technology services we provide to clients;
• Send our newsletter and occasional service communications you’ve asked to receive (you can unsubscribe at any time);
• Operate, secure, and improve our website and understand how it is used;
• Protect the rights, safety, and security of our clients, our team, and the public; and
• Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

For individuals in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, our legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract, your consent (which you may withdraw), our legitimate interests in operating and improving our business, and compliance with legal obligations.

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working and to measure aggregate usage (for example, which pages are most read). We do not use advertising cookies or sell information gathered through analytics.

• With your direction — when you ask us to share information with a third party.

6Client data & confidentiality

In the course of providing services, we may access systems and data belonging to our business clients. We treat that access as the responsibility it is:

• We handle client data strictly to deliver the agreed services, under the terms of our services agreement and any applicable data-processing terms;
• We never sell client data, and we never use your confidential information to train models or tools shared with anyone else;
• Access is limited, on a least-privilege basis, to the people performing your work, and is revoked when the engagement ends; and
• Your documentation, credentials, and source code remain yours, and are returned or deleted on request.

7How we protect information

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption in transit, least-privilege access controls, multi-factor authentication, and regular review of our practices against recognized frameworks. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law.

8How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this policy — for example, to respond to your inquiry, provide services, or maintain our business records — and thereafter as required to meet legal, accounting, or reporting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.

Canaan One is based in the United States, and information we collect is processed there. EEA/UK/Swiss residents may lodge a complaint with their local data-protection authority. California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know, delete, and correct personal information and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information — note that we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined — and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To exercise any right, contact us using the details in Section 14. We will verify your identity and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally within 30–45 days).

11Children’s privacy

Our website and services are intended for businesses and adults, and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12Third-party links

Our site may link to third-party websites and services we do not control. This policy does not apply to those sites, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit.

13Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice where appropriate. Your continued use of our website after an update takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
